This new character sheet could be helpful if I decide to use the more mainstream style of 2D using bones, puppet tools and computer assistant like MOHO which looks pretty enticing but I will need to somehow find about 500$ CAD or more. If I could get up to speed in Blender I could mix 2 and 3D as I have been doing here and there more efficiently and at no extra cost. Right now I am playing around with the idea of making the keyframes in Affinity Designer and hand drawing the inbetweens and see how that works. <p></p><p>I was hoping Procreate Dreams would be further along in features to do this but I might need to stay with Toon Squid on the iPad. Krita has improved but not enough for what I need so far. Open Toons is s till a little frustrating to work with but might have the features I need. </p><p>Below is the original design, it's very different in style. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhru4XClxoncgm04UNfdfXW4V2q51X2OQIjx8wrDHieWZzztZ3Amq56xwIC16thINql7xs1BERswWioPNDM_2gPloveyAu6LKv3_WJlOKhwGWriq6Oq4LJdHpUaeINDoBUyN6vE8Hdt1ZE11pKvj8Sc5eWOX57OqQsfTdXQ5euODdNGDzdNpj-eyrTstRPf/s3300/Nauti%20character%20sheet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2550" data-original-width="3300" height="469" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhru4XClxoncgm04UNfdfXW4V2q51X2OQIjx8wrDHieWZzztZ3Amq56xwIC16thINql7xs1BERswWioPNDM_2gPloveyAu6LKv3_WJlOKhwGWriq6Oq4LJdHpUaeINDoBUyN6vE8Hdt1ZE11pKvj8Sc5eWOX57OqQsfTdXQ5euODdNGDzdNpj-eyrTstRPf/w608-h469/Nauti%20character%20sheet.jpg" width="608" /></a></div><p></p>Behemoth mediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06224320582603239565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414147859974935053.post-91065919268513604872024-03-05T08:49:00.002-05:002024-03-05T08:49:07.684-05:00Cartoon: Sheep (moutons)<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiou1k9tpqKRsslB7g-V-uhbzU7D8Qgq4XDTnFcBFwI0Y0Hf3jd74FlMsVWfddqIiy0SuURI5DRHjbiskd2wBcaE2FzAGmOUZnXxda-gsesnokZxoDp5Vc1_O_C-pQG55g5ieT55Y6PbK6e_G6w5MX-bc5XpqwQnch1yBoZM6VbIsrLlvqAy_k0Xnszj7n0/s2357/moutons.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2074" data-original-width="2357" height="535" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiou1k9tpqKRsslB7g-V-uhbzU7D8Qgq4XDTnFcBFwI0Y0Hf3jd74FlMsVWfddqIiy0SuURI5DRHjbiskd2wBcaE2FzAGmOUZnXxda-gsesnokZxoDp5Vc1_O_C-pQG55g5ieT55Y6PbK6e_G6w5MX-bc5XpqwQnch1yBoZM6VbIsrLlvqAy_k0Xnszj7n0/w608-h535/moutons.jpg" width="608" /></a></div><br />More animals from Mobius Meadows farmstead. It was a bigger challenge than expected. This is the third iteration, the other two were... not good. mostly because I was too biased towards realism and couldn't seem to get my head around the cartoon part. This is in the style of my last few colour drawings done in Procreate with maybe a bit more painting detail than the rest. <p></p>Behemoth mediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06224320582603239565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414147859974935053.post-36209154680356127132024-02-27T04:00:00.001-05:002024-02-27T04:00:00.243-05:00Illustration: Carver Street, Provincetown, MA<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcCmQnxkmMuzqRObTVW40rH1AkDUyMjtb6Nuuv3AgAfI2154WbcRlwp_fIxwczn7koZZGpDyp_bwROzo_wkgIGmH4CwmF28-4LoAsWhQo-6cgVlqYI2i8JokArP96JofgZeNknIzmywi8erbXe3t3IU-uCCPrP6vCJav8HCc2I5SolHJgTB3GQzds_Gv8j/s1200/Carver%20Street%20Provincetown.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="1200" height="433" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcCmQnxkmMuzqRObTVW40rH1AkDUyMjtb6Nuuv3AgAfI2154WbcRlwp_fIxwczn7koZZGpDyp_bwROzo_wkgIGmH4CwmF28-4LoAsWhQo-6cgVlqYI2i8JokArP96JofgZeNknIzmywi8erbXe3t3IU-uCCPrP6vCJav8HCc2I5SolHJgTB3GQzds_Gv8j/w651-h433/Carver%20Street%20Provincetown.jpg" width="651" /></a></div><br /> The last of these Provincetown drawings for a long while I think. I pass this house a lot from where I stay to Commercial Street. I love the look but drawing it I saw there were a lot of signs of it having some maintenance issues. I will need to rethink how I want to draw them. It's set far back from the street and now has houses on either side and trees blocking a clear view as well. On my early morning walk on my last day I passed it and the trucks were gone! So I took a few reference photos and this is the result. Even with the workers gone, the right side was not really visible so I searched from old illustrations and photos from when the church was clearly visible. <p></p>Behemoth mediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06224320582603239565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414147859974935053.post-63925130643105368812024-02-21T11:29:00.000-05:002024-02-21T11:29:13.013-05:003d Mock up to Illustration<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_9Y5MkvvD7Hq_ql0mAACDmLYsAOAde53rUTEB5lUYp8GoyQ6Rac8XoUEGm-N9USA-ZitBr8Xi8ESYODubbSJ-B81jRp9yqy6zuDIcITH8JiPpQSY7ywEQIbRccP3XX3Md4iIFiak-Aw2wdqnaYh678JdowTvJxUGKYL4wpsZCV8SgGWFiB6oFkkxAxqfL/s1321/pet%20store%20_%20drawing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="778" data-original-width="1321" height="366" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_9Y5MkvvD7Hq_ql0mAACDmLYsAOAde53rUTEB5lUYp8GoyQ6Rac8XoUEGm-N9USA-ZitBr8Xi8ESYODubbSJ-B81jRp9yqy6zuDIcITH8JiPpQSY7ywEQIbRccP3XX3Md4iIFiak-Aw2wdqnaYh678JdowTvJxUGKYL4wpsZCV8SgGWFiB6oFkkxAxqfL/w623-h366/pet%20store%20_%20drawing.jpg" width="623" /></a></div><br /> This is a part of an illustration for the children's book I am working on. Some of the panels have been very complicated and difficult to fit what the client wants into the frame and in the same perspective. I had been using Cinema 4D to make simple mock-ups to make the items fit in the frame and to keep the perspective consistent. Sadly, my C4D version no longer works on my OS and I started to learn Blender... again? Still? In any case above is the finished illustration made in Affinity designer and I managed to make the mock-up in Blender over a couple hours. Still don't know enough to do much but I made progress so that is a positive! <p></p><p>The children's book looks basically like a cartoon and keeping all the images looking like they belong in the same book is not easy. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgOEBKkkl9BQtZF90NZZAFIzBGpXOueK7E1HcX4hOQqaHnYKU3EzqpMhGS3HqVRXM0a8iTySh5RT7xkPw-QI4wR2R4GjuyFClzuO459ucfPM8c472XVhZJRDHgF4HVHDNL8HCYOlA4cldgMtyPZk0koPWIrwWXAQR9jVsJgVllmzNYuSXy_B5QMhZLGu1u/s1321/petstore_3d%20Mockup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="778" data-original-width="1321" height="289" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgOEBKkkl9BQtZF90NZZAFIzBGpXOueK7E1HcX4hOQqaHnYKU3EzqpMhGS3HqVRXM0a8iTySh5RT7xkPw-QI4wR2R4GjuyFClzuO459ucfPM8c472XVhZJRDHgF4HVHDNL8HCYOlA4cldgMtyPZk0koPWIrwWXAQR9jVsJgVllmzNYuSXy_B5QMhZLGu1u/w492-h289/petstore_3d%20Mockup.jpg" width="492" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Behemoth mediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06224320582603239565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414147859974935053.post-82408263984237668242024-02-17T04:00:00.001-05:002024-02-17T04:00:00.140-05:00Illustration: Love N Happiness, Provincetown Massachusetts<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKH8tG_-ShkaFIBj8miVBUYYVxWHMQitlsFJzdsNru9lP6VqzDw3LDalZMYcixZJ4Jb8fjCagMHe_LbNYi-1ovQiIZfgFFRsGuZ9yv1d4erC2xdJ3adQJgBz35oUdSrtTTN2GzCXbFSHzmgbUWBUmcSpFyEOlIsljseGxFFwnb8L-an1uO5vCjeGhCYRzc/s1200/Love%20%20N%20Happiness.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1200" height="643" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKH8tG_-ShkaFIBj8miVBUYYVxWHMQitlsFJzdsNru9lP6VqzDw3LDalZMYcixZJ4Jb8fjCagMHe_LbNYi-1ovQiIZfgFFRsGuZ9yv1d4erC2xdJ3adQJgBz35oUdSrtTTN2GzCXbFSHzmgbUWBUmcSpFyEOlIsljseGxFFwnb8L-an1uO5vCjeGhCYRzc/w643-h643/Love%20%20N%20Happiness.jpg" width="643" /></a></div><br /> This was a different challenge. He asked a while back but since he just bought a house I thought getting done as a house gift was good motivation. This took a few months to work on. Finding images of skulls to work from and getting the information right was a challenge. Different sources have different ideas what goes where and some skulls are only fragments which doesn't make for a good poster. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd0OP7rt46KQuG0hyphenhyphenkqDZVRLBidd9AVMpWOg1-vPiIHkmrfUQTn8u_VPWdb8WA2zroxu2vekrQsfc1102yyaidhw3ZXGYWTl61GlenSDkMDrR4_E3-ggUEeiGJK8RzLLtpN4_kOltcXqJ6DN2NLMD-VUENkrHWl4fsmMZzXemzdEd7BxDEeUUpCIhq5wXI/s2224/skulls_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2224" data-original-width="1668" height="625" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd0OP7rt46KQuG0hyphenhyphenkqDZVRLBidd9AVMpWOg1-vPiIHkmrfUQTn8u_VPWdb8WA2zroxu2vekrQsfc1102yyaidhw3ZXGYWTl61GlenSDkMDrR4_E3-ggUEeiGJK8RzLLtpN4_kOltcXqJ6DN2NLMD-VUENkrHWl4fsmMZzXemzdEd7BxDEeUUpCIhq5wXI/w469-h625/skulls_1.jpg" width="469" /></a></div><p></p><p>I decided on a style and also to make grey in the areas where the skulls were reconstructed when there were pieces missing. Three of the images (the last three) will not be on the poster as there wasn't a good place for them to go but it was still good to do them. I have a plan for the layout, each image is 15x15" which is large so they will look much more detailed shrunk to fit the poster size, which I haven't decided on yet. </p><p>Mostly done in Affinity Photo with some help from Krita. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRhZYBVjmLulGPZuy6xUmH1MYvR9LCHJm2Th1XqFi8WDcMjXM3ucRDKp3nfTN7oZ7NzZu5Zkeb5VIAgUA-DVcgLa6C1L4kZykF5VMwn1S5QQcwh7GOb7BCxRcZE_edXjC_OOvuhpv96z0mtP26mPVFOWTZ1KXuF9-NEk0DghlIMGDrCwpyI5KGAzFbO2ks/s2224/skulls_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2224" data-original-width="1668" height="595" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRhZYBVjmLulGPZuy6xUmH1MYvR9LCHJm2Th1XqFi8WDcMjXM3ucRDKp3nfTN7oZ7NzZu5Zkeb5VIAgUA-DVcgLa6C1L4kZykF5VMwn1S5QQcwh7GOb7BCxRcZE_edXjC_OOvuhpv96z0mtP26mPVFOWTZ1KXuF9-NEk0DghlIMGDrCwpyI5KGAzFbO2ks/w446-h595/skulls_3.jpg" width="446" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><p></p>Behemoth mediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06224320582603239565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414147859974935053.post-31323674421953890232024-01-04T06:46:00.006-05:002024-01-04T08:08:45.536-05:002023 Year in Review<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXqzDhPzcLFdTpgNGq1sngJKXNS0NdHfSfdpRsDywllay6cU4d0YqgtmeuzOhGjrTwLNTypxz3ToAAZD9jBf5qvKA8NwDYG5WvFu-ZRYXAvNnPdEDnDuQj_GcBkSjJeHbXm61_MlqmzRTRPz9UiNUqC4kFcpWtCX2vqV6od21lz4F-Zazz9_D5SsG8DXQX/s1280/2023%20review.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="661" data-original-width="1280" height="333" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXqzDhPzcLFdTpgNGq1sngJKXNS0NdHfSfdpRsDywllay6cU4d0YqgtmeuzOhGjrTwLNTypxz3ToAAZD9jBf5qvKA8NwDYG5WvFu-ZRYXAvNnPdEDnDuQj_GcBkSjJeHbXm61_MlqmzRTRPz9UiNUqC4kFcpWtCX2vqV6od21lz4F-Zazz9_D5SsG8DXQX/w646-h333/2023%20review.jpg" width="646" /></a></div><br /> 2023 is over, I won't miss it or look back on it fondly from a personal point of view. The year started with my mother's death from dementia and ended with my aunt's death from the same with more of that in between. I was restricted from leaving even Montreal for 6 months as I waited for kidney surgery to be done, it was 2 years overdo already. I got Covid in November and am still coughing. Work did pick up as some clients needed more done as things picked up and a couple new clients showed up so that helped. I still don't make enough to live but maybe this year? <p></p><p><b>Software</b></p><p>From a software perspective it was a mixed bag. The Serif Affinity Suite of graphic design apps has been upgrading and getting closer to having all I want on desktop and iPad. Procreate released an animation app that is missing a lot but also adding missing features as a good clip. The no render full live preview feature alone is revolutionary not just on iPad but would be on the desktop as well. Topaz has been updating it's Video and Photo AI apps almost weekly, sometimes more! They did discontinue their previous stand alone apps but having 2 instead of 5 apps is a better solution. Cinema 4D V19 stopped working in a practical sense for me. I am not ready as I still don't have even the basics of Blender under my belt. C4D sort of works, the icon buttons are unusable but the drop down menus still work so it's isn't all the way dead and it still works on my old laptop so I won't be selling that anytime soon. There were some really cool plugins for Final Cut and others but most were subscription based, something I can't afford and really can't reasonably support. </p><p><b>Photography </b></p><p>I managed to go on 2 photo excursions in 2023. <a href="https://behemothmedia.blogspot.com/2023/10/photography-mont-sutton-quebec.html" target="_blank">Mont Sutton</a> which came out much nicer than I thought and <a href="https://behemothmedia.blogspot.com/2023/12/photography-provincetown-2023.html" target="_blank">Provincetown at the Race Point lighthouse</a> which was les than I hoped but its off the bucket list at least. </p><p><b>Art</b></p><p>I finished over 40 drawings and illustrated over 60 pages of children's book for a client. I also finished one animation, <a href="https://youtu.be/33ThFpsfKnQ?si=q3K7rFLG2L4pEhUe" target="_blank">Pulled towards the Sea</a> which puts dementia into a gothic horror light. I made light progress on a few short stories. </p>Behemoth mediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06224320582603239565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414147859974935053.post-19884048334059535712023-12-22T04:00:00.001-05:002023-12-22T04:00:00.136-05:00illustration: Delphine 02<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnZ7ik2IyGDnDu3YR9MSBb7B2zJ-2KMfWcaolNlQ0TK1Xv9dH7R4bRioj7ljzcd4WRxis8_A5Q5uDpFnmA5NBerjeHkK8fN4KbcLesdS2J0gwoh_4VGFovWI-nam1QDJ7ROtuIwk9HY-lTFUZ94YXi3ocFJvuoAOnqEQYdgeiZedmHZXNUev2yBk8r4k2s/s1200/delphine_02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1200" height="628" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnZ7ik2IyGDnDu3YR9MSBb7B2zJ-2KMfWcaolNlQ0TK1Xv9dH7R4bRioj7ljzcd4WRxis8_A5Q5uDpFnmA5NBerjeHkK8fN4KbcLesdS2J0gwoh_4VGFovWI-nam1QDJ7ROtuIwk9HY-lTFUZ94YXi3ocFJvuoAOnqEQYdgeiZedmHZXNUev2yBk8r4k2s/w628-h628/delphine_02.jpg" width="628" /></a></div><br />I recently made a portrait of this same cat but this one is meant for print to be given as gift. The hotel I usually stay in doubled it rates and going to the states has become more of chore for me lately. However, a friend who has a condo there rents it out and gave me a really kind offer and I was able to stay 5 night for what would have costs me for 2 so I took advantage of that and was able to wander around and take a photos in at least one place I have never been to before. I only spoke to one person I knew while there the entire trip which was very nice for me because I go there for solitude. Provincetown is super active in season but the opposite off season. I was also recovering from my first case of Covid and had (and still have weeks later) a terrible cough. So while being sick while away isn't ideal, it's better to be sick in a place you can do things by yourself and come back to your place and just sleep or do nothing.</p><p style="text-align: center;">(click images to see larger versions)</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEglxzOUTF06D8Cx08SrfzC5W2skvLHJAWsOWH9AJ0wSzgsumCgi2yjNxlv8ife0Pv8MEfizZyFeQnZZGtWQC56Yfy9DDwI3rfdfCg48IF6VbxgITKKB5ejEboBoO6n2mWk7mnIC0WK3h6AxQlNZQto4kS4Ny9aNPcXCStpQX9p811OR5wMjFCIWoT8vd3bL" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="1200" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEglxzOUTF06D8Cx08SrfzC5W2skvLHJAWsOWH9AJ0wSzgsumCgi2yjNxlv8ife0Pv8MEfizZyFeQnZZGtWQC56Yfy9DDwI3rfdfCg48IF6VbxgITKKB5ejEboBoO6n2mWk7mnIC0WK3h6AxQlNZQto4kS4Ny9aNPcXCStpQX9p811OR5wMjFCIWoT8vd3bL" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjlUY9d3Q-8an46VbrVtImar7DzR4qG4zB5aFZf6i0uZQh3hGf9QkJErpAXamDjky9xlflyq3jPBCvUMgmLP4iVUI22sVNTNYSnTpv6I3fm6YznOpf1BcOsfzEnU0RzMm3GZJy2MEKUgeoYwkGeBPC_mk2E7jYZ91d98NQX8qWFGOa-tuTeGKrRdt1TuAkX" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="1200" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjlUY9d3Q-8an46VbrVtImar7DzR4qG4zB5aFZf6i0uZQh3hGf9QkJErpAXamDjky9xlflyq3jPBCvUMgmLP4iVUI22sVNTNYSnTpv6I3fm6YznOpf1BcOsfzEnU0RzMm3GZJy2MEKUgeoYwkGeBPC_mk2E7jYZ91d98NQX8qWFGOa-tuTeGKrRdt1TuAkX" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh2yjAjwWN50nNC6ofJc4phhN9mofF1-ArQGix0A_exad4L2V_6I-wknqAGyCjOX1--Qc-H7qVP5lULJZj0cHoDwSAB3hh0vB4kOqPezhstr3lLTGmka7tjthvY8Z68oHIvI507WOb1MwqcyykD29JXU7kqyaNVbEanKP36pXKMybPEwU6rsGTXon5am2yU" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="800" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh2yjAjwWN50nNC6ofJc4phhN9mofF1-ArQGix0A_exad4L2V_6I-wknqAGyCjOX1--Qc-H7qVP5lULJZj0cHoDwSAB3hh0vB4kOqPezhstr3lLTGmka7tjthvY8Z68oHIvI507WOb1MwqcyykD29JXU7kqyaNVbEanKP36pXKMybPEwU6rsGTXon5am2yU" width="160" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh4Y3ILWQkPDHJ74ikIWaCZhhOQX5r3IVRZpbgWxUjHLOE555wn7EdzuKXviQnxChkKmDgOPQoB3ljB8mTnqKXjvlxvmQSsQUDYikaH4qGwqX0p1lrXQzg_FuPqpZAVebB962t8ClXhUfpPHDLc_tnOxU959Spzgo_iqSia2MH3ldoz6duxsEN4b7PR6jgt" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="799" data-original-width="1200" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh4Y3ILWQkPDHJ74ikIWaCZhhOQX5r3IVRZpbgWxUjHLOE555wn7EdzuKXviQnxChkKmDgOPQoB3ljB8mTnqKXjvlxvmQSsQUDYikaH4qGwqX0p1lrXQzg_FuPqpZAVebB962t8ClXhUfpPHDLc_tnOxU959Spzgo_iqSia2MH3ldoz6duxsEN4b7PR6jgt" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br /><p></p><p>There are three lighthouses in provincetown, one I photographed in detail last year, one I have never seen and one I kept seeing but could never get to on Race Point. It took three days of walking for hours and a quick cab ride to finally get there. It's not a road and there are no signs telling where it is. I was deposited on a fire road that became dunes and a sort of broken pathway that led to the lighthouse and it's accompanying buildings. Great! Well, mostly great. The one day i could get there was the same day as a snow storm the the photos I took were not exactly what I was looking for but managed a few good ones I hope. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; Its been around I think 15 years and while it started out a little wonky the makers have been attentive to users and determined to democratize art. When they announced a new product only a couple months ago, it was a mystery what is might be. Well, now we know and it appeared on my ipad when i woke up one morning this week and i was very excited to try it out.<p></p><p>The idea is to democratize animation in the same way Procreate did for art and drawing. Simple interface, professional quality output at an affordable price and again, lifetime free updates. It sort of succeeded. The performance is beyond anything else, it supports infinite undos and canvases up to 1 MILLION pixels, plays 4 K video in real time and your animations also play in real time with no need to render them first. They have stated some of these features will be making their way into Procreate soon. </p><p>With all that amazing stuff being true, it is also true that this is a 1.0 app and it’s missing not only some basic features in other apps already out there like Toon Squid, which is even cheaper, but crucial drawing features already in Procreate. While Procreate has an uncluttered interface it suffers from hiding features by making them available with gestures you need to learn that are not always intuitive and sadly Dreams has inherited some of that. The thing that surprised me the most was the lack of drawing assistance tools like being able to draw perfect lines or shapes and the lack of some effects like a glow or bloom which Procreate has. It doesn’t export to animated gif like Toon Squid. </p><p>This sounds like it is a disappointment, but it isn’t really for me overall. I expected and they were pretty upfront it was missing some important features before the release so bitching that they are not there when I knew they wouldn’t be seems dumb. The company has a very good, well earned reputation for quick updates and adding features the users want and buying it now insured me I was getting a nice price that i would never need to pay again and to begin learning at the ground level before new more complex features are added. I did the typical bouncing ball test to try it out and it took a couple tries and some you tube videos to make progress and figure out how I might use this. Was a bit frustrating but I see a lot of potential. </p><p>Animation is complex, and no matter how easy someone tries to make it, it will always be complex. This allows some simplification and will introduce new features over time that will streamline things but Procreate Dreams is made to encourage hand drawn, traditional animation techniques over other types of animation which might help keep the human touch in what you create with it. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwMptRfcaC-CZN1f-1JM6qGCOb2kcQN1SLq56g4RtyOSJop66N7WqmZqlNB6rd4Y0nWK_VV7xjTVGOMVeh0Zw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p>Behemoth mediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06224320582603239565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414147859974935053.post-9216869291051822612023-11-13T05:35:00.003-05:002023-11-13T05:35:31.461-05:00Website update for 2024<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0JzMqKHtkUCTrY0mjAKnvzF_WVHtLhyphenhyphen3svjkvAVzrYKgPzpKVtjP1hobEHWKjfCj2I6zMlLnhiFwfh-5zMbQ536xt_F1j0dmmQPIk_s45N8oPuKaxGRYOAHs7Zw6volr3MfXkw5NJPlLr10RwgK4qCylfJz6tHtdJaGWbtTqwfcAyMfuMM9rsbSUJZwXf/s2892/Screenshot%202023-11-13%20at%2004.52.53.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1884" data-original-width="2892" height="387" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0JzMqKHtkUCTrY0mjAKnvzF_WVHtLhyphenhyphen3svjkvAVzrYKgPzpKVtjP1hobEHWKjfCj2I6zMlLnhiFwfh-5zMbQ536xt_F1j0dmmQPIk_s45N8oPuKaxGRYOAHs7Zw6volr3MfXkw5NJPlLr10RwgK4qCylfJz6tHtdJaGWbtTqwfcAyMfuMM9rsbSUJZwXf/w596-h387/Screenshot%202023-11-13%20at%2004.52.53.png" width="596" /></a></div><br /> I was not happy with the last update I did for the <a href="https://www.behemothmedia.com">behemoth website</a>. mostly, I thought the menu setup just didn't work. I redesigned the logo and made the menu clearer and I hope more fun to look at. I added a large slideshow of work I have done and re-arranged the information on the other pages to make it easier to see as much as possible. My new animation was selected for several festivals so I wanted that information updated as well. I deleted the link for Instagram as I am off it officially now. There are some more animated sections of the site itself now. If anyone ever visits I hope they find it fun. <p></p>Behemoth mediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06224320582603239565noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414147859974935053.post-66382254423278695922023-11-03T04:39:00.004-04:002023-11-03T04:39:46.384-04:00Illustration: 1600 ave Lartigue<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh7F6X1qc89-exHzX5dLkuDKycPH2yRm5TJyWnCK4XnEqEtRuIQ5TVZ6PP2Xs1n71VajEEE4SQrVtKLHFl0N33Ch5zYCoZzUEqorC9c2zvp-z55OiCT9ldL8fR4y_ji2qN9vfUy1-pONbltrCwzpFtxrJVG65f9KG6DFiWuYNkpKkLYO_RYkftlw4Q-gcb/s1200/1600_ave_lartigue.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1200" height="626" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh7F6X1qc89-exHzX5dLkuDKycPH2yRm5TJyWnCK4XnEqEtRuIQ5TVZ6PP2Xs1n71VajEEE4SQrVtKLHFl0N33Ch5zYCoZzUEqorC9c2zvp-z55OiCT9ldL8fR4y_ji2qN9vfUy1-pONbltrCwzpFtxrJVG65f9KG6DFiWuYNkpKkLYO_RYkftlw4Q-gcb/w626-h626/1600_ave_lartigue.jpg" width="626" /></a></div><br />This is a house that really sticks out on one of the alley/streets I pass when going to a friend's house. It used to have a slightly larger than life plaster statue of an old time'y soldier painted in bright colours in front of it. It seems to always be for sale, sold, then for sale again. Not sure why that is, the inside seems really nice and large, there is a good outdoor space and parking. It is pretty weird, not sure what "style" it's in. <p></p><p>Like most of these drawings, it hated this until I was in my second colouring/painting stage where I start adding shading to the solid colours I laid down first. Now.. I like it a lot. Mostly because I think the roof tiles do it for me. The reference photos were sort of a mess. This is a narrow space and getting all the house in one shot was out of the question so I took multiple photos and made a couple panoramas with limited success. </p>Behemoth mediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06224320582603239565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414147859974935053.post-49841914085396273562023-10-25T09:03:00.001-04:002023-10-25T10:26:49.519-04:00Animation test: Ghost made with Toon Squid on iPad<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='485' height='403' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dy-acSZA9FxOr6QQSEXZvX4E7GclMPq8Ct3rXn6dwf0t-ngqEpV21lrs8PX6MBehdgBFkj8gvZX5oc6fClxtQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br /> I have had the Toon Squid app for a while but had no time to really play with it. So while listening to podcasts after supper for two nights I did this. Very short, best seen on a loop. It was amazing how easy it was to learn and animate on Toon Squid. I know Procreate Dreams is dropping next month and I plan to get it, but this is one well designed and powerful animation program! <p></p>Behemoth mediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06224320582603239565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414147859974935053.post-19675799916337841822023-10-15T05:08:00.010-04:002023-11-02T06:16:30.371-04:00Photography: Mont Sutton Québec<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoHS3D9KBSWqVcTltv0Umn65azFcxEWLdZDAVql8-lXcIvNcfxLJv17-ApsEGOHliNVS9v3iJZfGRhGvohPomebb_nJmQ6L_2W0rF4KAP6Dc5E5WsFgP4Xe8MZKEvKDGaz0yQDugpiyffoT1Xrv46pMYM8TVqKZAEIrh-DnIlyudfoWnrLrBugb68h4LEa/s1200/mont%20Sutton%2004.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="1200" height="434" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoHS3D9KBSWqVcTltv0Umn65azFcxEWLdZDAVql8-lXcIvNcfxLJv17-ApsEGOHliNVS9v3iJZfGRhGvohPomebb_nJmQ6L_2W0rF4KAP6Dc5E5WsFgP4Xe8MZKEvKDGaz0yQDugpiyffoT1Xrv46pMYM8TVqKZAEIrh-DnIlyudfoWnrLrBugb68h4LEa/w652-h434/mont%20Sutton%2004.jpg" width="652" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;"> We decided on a day trip to Mont Sutton to leaf peek on a Friday morning recently. When we got there is was cloudy and the clouds were obscuring most of the mountain. Nevertheless, we walked up the mountain on the ski trails with the pup. The path was covered with leaves and mud and VERY slippery. Honesty, if it had rained we would have be trapped on the mountain. We made it to the top and saw... nothing - you couldn't see anything but fog. I was taking photos along the way up and down and figured I might get a couple of interesting shots I would want to keep. In the end I had a good 70 finished shots! I am very happy with a good number of them as they certainly fall right into my "mysterious/creepy" aesthetic. One thing I did different was to "denoise" the images to take out the grain. Normally foggy shots have a lot of grain and I think over the years that has become the way we process these sort of shots. I realized in real life the dog made things much smoother looking, not grainy and I am very happy with these results! </span></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwT3Suho07fuoowDjKkET5s8aiHr4Q4-Ndk-ba-kMT1ZWnEDvWUT7im1A2VUC0QWst2YZtVImpuJEU6I8Xxw1nfAeLYy3D_j78ZYwOUkp-UnJWs_bjsZsuJnaDwoUrLzIzJ46kS82AD5H0g5q6WGgiGMGEh-LRKBgewtZ9m4KAh9JOjnP8BtrhiEv24HNs/s1200/Mont%20Sutton%2008.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em;
