This was about a 22 day project. I started it a few days after my mom died the start of this month. I used images from my 2012 trip to Paris, before the fire at the cathedral. As is often the case, the book "Rendering in Pen and Ink” was inspiration for the style.
The ink pen style I used for the building was a rough nib that had a crayon like look to it. I wanted a rough texture to it. The drawing is 15x22 inches so I could get more detail but in fact there is more the hint of details and not much is really sharp and clear. I kept the foreground clean and uncomplicated. The cathedral itself is complicated enough!

This is very cool indeed! It's obvious where your time was spent. Even cooler that you got to draw it from personal reference photos. Never been to France myself. I've been AROUND it, but not in it. Another well done drawing, Vince! Keep going!
I would love to go back there is a plague hospital I didn’t get to see and some other stuff. Paris was a little busy for me but it’s a beautiful place. I would really like to visit Ireland and Scotland and raw and photograph abandoned castles.
I am a BIG fan of Scotland. I've been twice and it's my kind of place; cold and rainy! The highlands, at least in 1985, were pretty rural. It has a very rugged beauty, often nothing but old, stone walls and sheep for miles. And heather, lots and lots of heather. Bet you could do some pretty amazing things with that kind of view.
My only trepidation about Scotland or Ireland is I think I would need to drive a car to get places I wanted to go. I haven't driven a car in 6 years and never on the opposite side of the road!
