So this is a flower from my front garden. It was pretty convenient to draw since it was just outside my studio window. I thought it would be a good idea to draw from life, though I did use a photo as well since the flowers are dying out for the season now. I also did a similar drawing while sitting in a B&B in Portsmouth New England in 1986 and thought it would be a nice comparison to see how they compared. One drawn on paper in coloured pencil and the other on my iPad in Procreate in coloured digital pencil.
Now the 1986 version.
I didn't feel the need to use dark outlines in the new one and think I have a much better control of colour.

I think you are right, if I remember right I did the first sitting in the window of a b&b in Portsmouth in a couple hours. I think I have learned to "see more" over the years. Thanks Wig!
