Ok, one more leaf....

This time I painted it in Krita to see what those tools were like. I have to say the paint brushes were so much more natural than Affinity Photo which makes sense since one is more for photos and another is made to really try and give that natural materials feel. The mixing of the paint colours over each other really felt like a real brush. leaves are very forgiving a subject so i don't fool myself that I am suddenly a painter, but I see improvement from the first one.

I definitely see improvement, too! this is a good series. Simple, but it's giving you a better feel of your tools, so that's a good thing. There's an especially nice feel of crinkliness at the tips and edges. Very cool!

I made a detailed sketch then inked the sketch to use as an overlay so I could have a little help with all the tips and edges then painted in a solid colour version to use as a jumping off point for the painting. I also had the leaf in front of me but it dried out and really curled up and got brown after a couple hours!
