I finally had a day to work on my own stuff for once and managed to get this digital painting done. It's mostly gouache brushes and a couple texture brushes. The last was an isolated tree and this is an entire scene so it was more challenging in that respect. It's still loose compared to my other work but it took about 8 hours of work to do. The forground path still looks wonky even after repainting it a few times. My main focus was the blurred/ditorted reflection on the water as I didn't want to have it look like a mirror.

Hopefully, I will do more of this practice work and get some of my painting skills up. This mostly watercolour brushes in Procreate and I hope is looser and more spontaneous looking than my usual stuff. I went to the park for ideas, took some reference photos and want to make a small series just for th hell of doing it.

 We decided on a day trip to Mont Sutton to leaf peek on a Friday morning recently. When we got there is was cloudy and the clouds were obscuring most of the mountain. Nevertheless, we walked up the mountain on the ski trails with the pup. The path was covered with leaves and mud and VERY slippery. Honesty, if it had rained we would have be trapped on the mountain. We made it to the top and saw... nothing - you couldn't see anything but fog. I was taking photos along the way up and down and figured I might get a couple of interesting shots I would want to keep. In the end I had a good 70 finished shots! I am very happy with a good number of them as they certainly fall right into my "mysterious/creepy" aesthetic. One thing I did different was to "denoise" the images to take out the grain. Normally foggy shots have a lot of grain and I think over the years that has become the way we process these sort of shots. I realized in real life the dog made things much smoother looking, not grainy and I am very happy with these results!

 After not being to the farm for  2 ½ years, I was finally able to go back and see my friends and walk around in the great outdoors. The alpacas still let me pet them which was nice and I was able to take some photos at the farmstead and at the river across the street.
